This project is two separate Flash files. The first SWF is the container/loader, the second SWF loads inside of the first. I did this to achieve a smooth loading progress bar and add visual stimulation during user wait time.
During the load Master Chief’s transparency is relevant to the bytes loaded for the main movie.
After the movie is loaded to 100 percent the elements navigate to form the layout and the brightness dims for the movie.
If you mouse over the main movie clip you will see all of the controls for the movie.
The left side character is breathing.
The right character’s helmet shield glares every so often, and his gun light also pulsates randomly.
If you hover over the Xbox or the game box they both play sounds and glow.
If you click the Xbox or game box they will first blur, then take you to the appropriate web page.
The background selector lets you choose the background of your choice dynamically and uses Actionscript to smoothly transition the images.
There are faint birds, crickets, and other ambiance for the main backdrop.
The intro music streams almost instantly while the user awaits the site.
The Halo 3 logo on the loading screen that shines is actually an FLV (Flash Video File) that I created in Adobe After Effects and imported into Flash, the clip is 12 seconds long and loops until the loading is complete.
Both the Halo 3 logo video and the Halo 3 Trailer video load dynamically and stream from my web server.
This entire project was completed in about 11 hours working time. This included coding, debugging, sound editing, Photoshop layout/masking, Illustrator work, After Effects work, and importing all of the elements to Flash.
Requires Flash player 9
Enjoy!
